2014 Workforce Development Partnership Symposium. The State Workforce Investment Board (SWIB) will host the 2014 Workforce Development Conference, March 19 - 20 at the Columbia Marriott. This year's theme is, Let's Grow South Carolina: Building a Highly Competitive Workforce. The Symposium gives those interested in advancing our state's workforce a great opportunity to hear of best practices, collaborate on future endeavors, and learn of workforce innovations to improve the lives of South Carolinians and help businesses prosper. This annual event is for individuals involved in South Carolina's workforce system including: State and Local Workforce Investment Board members, elected officials, workforce professionals, as well as staff from partner agencies, economic development, and community-based organizations. Business owners and representatives across the state also attend and are recognized during the State Workforce Investment Board Awards Luncheon and the Palmetto Workforce Partnership Awards Ceremony. The South Carolina Workforce Investment Board (SWIB) is a 31-member board appointed by the Governor and includes business leaders, members of the General Assembly, local elected officials, workforce partners and representatives of community-based organizations. The goal of the SWIB is to create a competitive workforce advantage for South Carolina by ensuring that a quality and effective workforce system exists in order to improve the lives of all South Carolinians.
