Name: 2nd Annual Midlands Farm Tour
Date: April 5, 2014 - April 6, 2014
Event Description:
The Carolina Farm Stewardship Association Hosts its 2nd Annual Midlands Farm Tour. This self-guided tour comprises 10 working farms and gardens in Richland, Lexington and Kershaw counties and taps into the Midlands' growing passion for local food and farming. Visitors can meet local farmers, learn about their work and tour their farms. You will see lots of baby farm animals, feed goats, learn about organic practices, growing vegetables, fruits, and flowers without using harmful pesticides, wander through fruit orchards, greenhouses and take a horse-and-carriage ride, and face painting for the kids. Come hungry! Enjoy a farm-fresh picnic or enjoy food sold at the farms such as pulled BBQ pork sandwiches, cookies and other treats. And last of all sample goats' cheese. Don't forget to bring a cooler to purchase pasture-raised meat, produce, eggs, cheese, and delicious home-baked pies. This is an ideal opportunity for adults to teach their children about where their food comes from. This is a rain or shine event. Please, NO pets. Proceeds from the tour supports the work of the Carolina Farm Stewardship Association. All farmers are available for interview. Please see tour brochure for contact details.
