Firing on Columbia Commemoration is sponsored by the General Wade Hampton Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Take in some local history at noon Saturday with this annual event, which depicts Gen. William T. Sherman's 1865 fusillade on the Capitol City. Confederate sharpshooters will be on the Columbia side of the bridge. World War II veterans will participate in the first firing. The event, on the West Columbia side of the Gervais Street Bridge will be General Wade Hampton Camp of the Sons of Confederate Veterans.
