Flu shots, free health screenings offered at Lexington Chamber
Lexington Medical Center will conduct free health screenings at the Greater Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center Oct. 18 from 8 to 11 a.m. The screenings will assess blood pressure and check glucose for diabetes, cholesterol for heart disease, and iron for anemia or iron overload disorders. The screening also includes a PSA (prostate specific antigen) test for Caucasian men 50 and older and African American men 45 and older, and a fecal occult for colorectal cancer. A card for the fecal occult is available upon request. Patients must fast 12 hours before their screening and are encouraged to drink water to avoid dehydrated veins.
Flu shots for $30 will be available as well. Medicare Part B insurance is accepted. Registration is required; call 359-6113 to make an appointment. The Greater Lexington Chamber and Visitors Center is at 321 South Lake Drive.
