Join the South Carolina State Museum at the grand opening of their new planetarium, observatory and 4D theater from 9 a.m. ? 7 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 16. To kick off the day, there will be a ribbon cutting ceremony with model rockets launched by students from the Challenger Learning Center. The day will be packed full of planetarium shows, 4D movies, the opening of a new art exhibition, Building a Universe, live music representing four popular South Carolina genres, bluegrass, blues, beach and gospel, as well as other exciting programs and activities. Guests can also tour the new telescope gallery and see the new observatory. Come early!
