Irmo Okra Strut Festival

The festival at a glance - It's a two-day gathering in late September with a street dance, parade, arts and crafts, rides and amusements, petting zoo and food.- Attendance is estimated at 55,000 annually.- Irmo is not an okra-growing center. Festival organizers picked the vegetable as a gimmick.- It began in 1973 and has been held at various sites.- Proceeds are used for civic and school organizations, scholarships and improvement of public areas.
