Name: Lexington County Museum Family Day
Date: June 25, 2016
Time: 11:00 AM - 1:00 PM EDT
Event Description:
On Saturday June 25 from 10 am to 1 pm, the Lexington County Museum will host its second annual family day. This event, which will be free for the public, will feature children’s activities such as playing with historic games and toys and learning about life during the colonial era in Lexington County. These activities, which are based on the programs we do for school groups, are hands-on so kids can learn and play at the same time. Children will get to play with toys such as Jacob’s ladder and perform activities such as candle-dipping. Archeologists will also be present with children’s activities to educate children about archeology and the artifacts archeologists find. In addition, several of the museum’s 36 structures will be open for tours. Visitors should also be on the lookout for a special guest! The museum will also be hosting a Civil War encampment that day. Living historians will show what camp life was like. This will be a great opportunity for adults and children to learn about the daily life of the average soldier, including the weapons they used, their uniforms, and what they ate. Visitors will also be treated to free hot dogs and drinks. This event will allow attendees to learn about Lexington history while having fun.
