Dee Dee Ricks, cancer survivor and motivational speaker, was diagnosed with breast cancer in April 2007, an event that turned the hedge fund advisor and philanthropist into an activist for the uninsured and underinsured. Her experience helped to inspire the HBO documentary, "The Education of Dee Dee Ricks," which premiered October 2011. The documentary follows the journey of a woman battling breast cancer, while raising millions of dollars to help other breast cancer patients who are without resources.
