Oak Grove Elementary hosts a ribbon cutting ceremony for shade structure and buddy benches. They will celebrate the addition of a new shade shelter and buddy benches for the school playground. Special guests include Dr. Jim Chow, representatives from Hoover Buildings, Inc. and Sen. Katrina Shealy.
Oak Grove Elementary School received an American Academy of Dermatology Shade Structure Grant totaling $8,000 to build a permanent shade structure for the playground. The protected coverings provide students a place to play without exposure to ultraviolet rays.
During the ceremony, OGES will also unveil buddy benches. Students will present a skit explaining what buddy benches are and how they are used to help children make friends.
