The featured wines we will have for tasting are:
Jacobs Creek Shiraz RSV - South Australia @ $9.99 btl.
The Reserve Shiraz is a full-bodied wine with rich fruit flavors of dark berries, plums and velvety tannins. Lovely acid balance and integration of flavors linger in your mouth finishing with spice, chocolate and mocha tones.
A perfect complement to most red meats, game and cheeses.
Duboeuf Beaujolais Village - Beaujolais, France @$9.99 btl.
Beaujolais-Villages by Georges Duboeuf is a wine that's both unusual and interesting. The key distinguishing feature is that the jammy fruit common with Gamay-based wines is dialed down. Rather, on its core of fresh currants and raspberry, the wine is laced with fresh herbs, including rosemary and sage. The result is a wine that feels fresh and is easy to drink on its own but which carries enough body to stand up to food.
Seaglass Sauvignon Blanc - Santa Barbera County, California @$9.99 btl.
SeaGlass Sauvignon Blanc is ripe with the flavors of tropical fruit and bright citrus that lead to a pure and clean inish. This exceptional Sauvignon Blanc is perfect with crab cakes, light pasta dishes, and summer salads.
Dry Creek Chardonnay - Russian River Valley, California @ $15.99 btl.
Dry Creek Chardonnay presents a crisp exotic spice character. After several minutes in the glass, more subtle notes of melon, honeysuckle, and apricot appear. On the palate, the wine is balanced and luscious, held together with bright acidity and good structure. Flavors of vanilla, pear and nutmeg round out the mouth feel, leading to a seamless finish that lingers on.
Napa Creek Chardonnay 2008 @ $7.99 btl.
This Napa Valley Chard is loaded with ripe tropical fruits, a bit of butterscotch but not overly oaked. While packed with flavor, its flavor profile will please any fan of Chardonnay! Enjoy with or without food.
Napa Creek Merlot 2006 @ $7.99 btl.
An outstanding Merlot out of the Napa Valley. It's a "Big-Boy" among the other merlots. If you prefer a Cab, you will be pleasantly surprised with this Merlot. It is well integrated with both dark & red fruits & a bit of Oak. The tannins aren't over the top, yet it really opens up after a day or two. Days 3 & 4 are even better!
L'Oca Ciuca (The Drunken Goose) 2006 @ $7.99 btl
This Drunken Goose flew in from Toscana, Italy. It's a Super-Tuscan, and is a blend of Sangiovese 40%, Merlot 30%, & Syrah 30%. Getting its medium-tannin structure from the Sangiovese, the Merlot & Syrah offer their bright fruit characters, creating a fantastic food-friendly wine. It's exceptional after getting some hang time after a few days!! (i.e., it opens up fantastically)!!!
Clos Du Val Merlot 2005 @ $16.99 btl.
A classic Bordeaux style blend. This wine is full bodied, deeply complex and boasts a long finish. It is French-oak aged for 16 months. Its flavor profile of black fruit, plum and flavors of blackberry, anise and dried herbs will please any palate.
Casillero Del Diablo Pinot Grigio 2008 @$8.49 btl.
This Pinot Grigio is full of fresh, vibrant flavors of pear with undertones of citrus fruit, like tangerine. A light to medium-bodied wine with excellent balance and a long crisp finish. Ideal as a aperitif or as an accompaniment to salads, fish or vegetarian dishes.
