Sounds of the South

Name: Sounds of the South
Date: March 1, 2013 - March 2, 2013
Event Description:
LCCS will perform an exciting concert featuring selections from the South to include many of Stephen Foster's compositions. One such tune was arranged by SC's own Larry Shackley entitled "If You've Only Got a Moustache," another by well-known choral arranger Robert Lau entitled "Gentle Annie." In addition, LCCS will once again pay tribute to Dr. Dick Goodwin by bringing his medley of the folk songs "Every Night" and "Polly Wolly Doodle" to life once again. Goodwin's arrangement was originally written for the USC Concert Choir in 1976 for an international choral festival in Debrecen, Hungary, where the choir earned first place under the direction of Dr. Arpad Darazs during the Bicentennial celebratory year of the USA. Come enjoy a glimpse into the heritage of the South.
