You are invited to join the South Carolina Chamber of Commerce and Midlands area chambers for the Midlands Grassroots Meeting on Tuesday, August 14, from 11:30 a.m.-1:30 p.m. at the AT&T Auditorium (1600 Williams Street, Columbia). There is a $10 charge for lunch, and free parking is available in the adjacent garage.
The Grassroots Meeting will be an open-forum session and is one of the first steps in creating the Competitiveness Agenda, the business community’s annual list of legislative priorities. It will begin with a legislative review from the South Carolina Chamber’s Public Policy staff before moving into an open discussion of legislative issues that you believe must be addressed.
Participants bring compelling issues to the meetings, which helps the Chamber create its Competitiveness Agenda. Once issues are defined and strategies are developed, the Chamber works with legislative officials to create an environment that will improve the business climate in South Carolina.
Time and again, the business community has seen the power of a unified grassroots network in pushing through vital issues and halting those that are harmful to the state’s business climate. Numerous business leaders, community leaders and legislators attended last year’s regional grassroots meeting.
Mark your calendars today for the Midlands Grassroots Meeting on August 14. To register, visit www.scchamber.net under Events, or contact Julie Scott at 803-255-2628 or grassroots@scchamber.net.
