Beginning January 1, 2012, every employer in South Carolina will be required to verify their new hires using E-Verify.
The South Carolina Employer E-Verify Seminar was developed to aid employers in understanding and complying with the South Carolina Illegal Aliens and Private Employment Act, and to train employers on how to enroll and use E-Verify. The seminar will give an overview of South Carolina Immigration Law as it pertains to E-Verify.
U.S. Department of Homeland Security subject matter experts will conduct presentations of the E-Verify service and live demonstrations. U.S. Department of Justice Office of Special Counsel (OSC) will discuss employer responsibilities and employee rights in the hiring and E-Verify processes. U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) will provide information about Form I-9, Employment Eligibility and Verification, compliance and best practices and the IMAGE program.
