The Lexington County Sheriff’s Department in partnership with the Batesburg-Leesville Chamber of Commerce & Visitor’s Center will conduct a Summer Kick-Off Skate Party between 6 p.m. and 8 p.m. on Friday, May 27 at Celebrations, 6704 Augusta Highway, Leesville, with all proceeds benefitting the Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter in Lexington.
Lexington County Sheriff James R. Metts said resident deputies, school resource officers and code enforcement officers will participate in the event. Children can attend the skate party for free and enjoy roller skating and eating pizza and cotton candy.
Citizens can sponsor a child to attend the party by making a donation of $10 per child, Metts said. In addition, citizens and businesses can provide a sponsorship at the Mentor level for a donation of $100 and a sponsorship at the Guardian Angel level for a donation of $150.
Batesburg-Leesville Resident Deputy Melissa Garner is coordinating the participation of the Sheriff’s Department in the skate party, Metts said. Citizens who want to participate in the event or who would like additional information about the event can contact Garner at the Sheriff’s Department West Region Patrol District Office at (803) 785-7508.
The Nancy K. Perry Children’s Shelter provides emergency housing for children who have been abused, neglected, abandoned and exploited, Metts said. The sheriff helped lead efforts to establish the shelter in 1972.
The skate party reflects the Sheriff’s Department mission of providing professional law enforcement services that enhance the quality of life for all people in Lexington County, Metts said.
